Many children with cerebral palsy or brain injuries can have tight hamstrings which causes irregular walking such as toes and / or heels up.

At CPPC, we use a stander as one of the key therapists to help correct this and children spend approximately 30 minutes per session in one. The stander is a wooden frame that both supports the child and helps them maintain a good posture.

Other benefits of the stander are include maintenance and stretching of the hamstring muscle length and distribution the child's weight correctly through the legs and hips. This helps to strengthen hips and legs and can also help to improve fine motor movement if a child is given other tasks to do simultaneously.
